Sony recently unleashed its two photography-centric smartphones—the new Xperia 1 III, and Xperia 5 III.
The brand is known for its camera innovations, and with the launch of its two new smartphones, Sony aimed to tag the devices as a mobile counterpart of its famed Alpha digital cameras. In fact, the company boasted that these devices are the first smartphones to offer a variable telephoto lens, complemented with a Dual PD sensor.
With this, when a photographer zooms further, these two devices can intelligently zoom using its impressive digital zoom features.
Aside from that, Sony also explained that the Xperia 1 III and Xperia 5 III are packed with a fast and accurate autofocus system, allowing users to enjoy an elevated mobile photography experience.
SONY XPERIA 1 III 5G
The Xperia 1 III 5G flashes an impressive HDR OLED display with a 4K resolution. Making sure that it can smoothly accommodate games and videos with heavy graphics and colors, the device can offer a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch scanning rate.
Under the hood, the device sports a Snapdragon 888 5G chipset, 12GB RAM, and 256GB storage—ensuring that it can handle daily mobile tasks without any issue. It is packed with a 4,500mAh battery, too.
Moving on to its photography department, it sports multiple rear cameras with ZEISS T coating. As mentioned, it has a 12MP main shooter, 12MP telephoto lens, 12MP ultrawide snapper, and a 3D iTOF sensor. For selfies, it is mounted with an 8MP selfie camera.

Just like the Xperia 1 III 5G, this device also comes with an HDR OLED screen but it has a smaller 6.1-inch FHD+ display.
Inside, it is loaded with a Snapdragon 888 5G processor, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, and a 4,500 juice. The same camera specs will be found in its photography department, as well.

Sony is yet to announce its official pricing, while it will first arrive in the U.S. starting early summer of 2021.
