Samsung Galaxy M12 Review: Long-lasting Galaxy smartphone

0

The Samsung Galaxy M series is proved to be an interesting lineup of smartphones from Samsung as the M series offers interesting hardware for its price. One of the latest ones in the M series is the Galaxy M12 and it does pack an affordable price which makes it interesting for the masses.

Samsung Galaxy M12 Review: Design and hardware

When it comes to the design of the smartphone, it has a lot of similarities to the Samsung Galaxy A12 but the Galaxy M12 has a different as this one packs a different textured back design but this one is still made up of plastic but it doesn’t feel that cheap when you use it.

Despite being a thick smartphone, this one is still ergonomic. The smartphone comes with a little bit of weight but I really didn’t have any problems when using the Samsung Galaxy M12 with one hand.  It weighs at 214g but overall, it was just fine for me to use.

As for the other features, the Samsung Galaxy Galaxy M12 comes with a fingerprint scanner that is located at the power button of the smartphone and it’s fast enough for my usage. Of course, there’s the face unlock if you don’t want the fingerprint scanner on the smartphone.

Below the smartphone is where you can find the USB-C port along with the headphone jack but despite the large 5000mAh battery inside this smartphone, it only features a 15W fast charging so it might take a while before you can fully charge your smartphone. Most of the time, I charge my smartphone before going to bed.

Samsung Galaxy M12 Review: Display

For the display of the smartphone, there’s the 6.5-inch HD+ display with a PLS TFT LCD panel. Surprisingly, the display of the smartphone is pretty good. The colors were good but it’s not as good as their Super AMOLED panels and the smartphone’s display is already bright enough for me.

The resolution of the smartphone might not be the best one as this one only features an HD+ panel but it’s a reasonable one for its battery and it does save a lot of battery for me. It might not be as sharp as other smartphones in its price range but it gets the job done.

Samsung Galaxy M12 Review: Battery life

One of the main features of the smartphone is the battery. The smartphone is equipped with a 5000mAh battery inside and like what I’ve said earlier, it only comes with a 15W fast charging which is a little bit slow by today’s standards.

But when we tested the smartphone in the PC Mark 2.0 Battery Life test, we were able to get a score of 18 hours and 39 minutes which is one of the longest battery life that we’ve seen on a smartphone. The smartphone’s chipset which is an Exynos 850 is surprisingly an efficient one when it comes to battery life.

Samsung Galaxy M12 Review: Software and performance

The smartphone comes with an Exynos 850 chipset which we rarely see on entry-level and mid-range smartphones. The chipset is surprisingly good when it comes to handling the thermals of the smartphone unlike its bigger brothers on the flagship smartphones of Samsung. As for the performance, we got these benchmarks on the smartphone:

Basically, the smartphone isn’t the most powerful one in the market right now even at its price range but it’s capable of running Genshin Impact, however, don’t expect really good framerates from these games. We were also able to play PUBG Mobile on the smartphone with smooth graphics with ultra framerate. However, playing light games such as Mobile Legends: Bang Bang won’t be a problem on this one.

Samsung Galaxy M12 Review: Camera

The Galaxy M12’s camera module is quite similar to the Samsung Galaxy A12. We have here a 48MP main camera, along with 5MP ultra-wide camera and also a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth camera. Basically, the useful ones here are the 48MP main camera and also the 5MP ultra-wide camera of the smartphone.

The shots that we took using the smartphone were surprisingly fine for the main camera of the smartphone. The ultra-wide-angle also fared well but it’s not as good as the main camera as expected. Check out the shots that we took using the smartphone:

The main camera of the smartphone produces pretty good colors and it was sharper than I expected. The dynamic range of both the main camera and the ultra-wide camera of the smartphone is surprisingly good too. However, I can’t say the same for the selfie camera of the smartphone as the dynamic range wasn’t really that good and it’s a little bit soft.

Samsung Galaxy M12 Review: Verdict

Overall, if you’re looking for a smartphone that won’t break the bank and you want a long battery life then you might want to consider this one as it has one of the longest battery life that we’ve ever seen and the camera was surprisingly fine on the smartphone. However, if you’re planning on playing games on this one, well, this won’t be your best bet but it can run most apps and games that you want on the smartphone.

If you want to get one, the Samsung Galaxy M12 is now available in the market for Php7,490.

Lenovo named as top monitor brand in the Philippines

0

Lenovo has been recognized as the number one monitor brand in the Philippine market, battling out its rivals that offer the same products in the country.

According to the latest report of intelligence firm International Data Corporation (IDC), Lenovo is the biggest monitor brand in the local market for fiscal year (FY) 2021 to 2021.

IDC also explained that a shortage of components and rising shipping costs have had an impact on shipment growth in the previous years. Some vendors also chose to stock up to have a more lasting supply. The research firm also claimed that this might change work setups and increase demand for gaming monitors.

Meanwhile, Lenovo has innovated more products and technologies that complement and help consumers by delivering devices the best of both worlds.

“With that, Lenovo has emerged as the top visuals brand in the market made possible by our conscious decisions to address and serve the unique demands of different users,” said Michael Ngan, Lenovo Philippines president, and general manager.

Lenovo launched multiple products, including new monitors, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) last June. These new products increased screen exposure and added low blue light technology to prevent eye strain and adjustable stands for comfortability.

The company also recently introduced its newest solutions and customer support service that enhance user experiences, such as its ThinkShield security solution and Premium Care service.

Top 5 features of the ASUS Zenbook 13 OLED UX325

0

In our review of the ASUS Zenbook 13 OLED UX325, we definitely love the different features of the notebook as this one is a perfect companion for work-from-home setup or for school. So you might be curious what are my top favorite features of this notebook.

ASUS Zenbook 13 OLED UX325 Review

OLED Display

This is the main unique selling point of this notebook, the display. There’s the OLED display on this one which means that this notebook will produce better colors and it has a better display compared to most laptops out there in the market.

For the display, it has a full HD 1920×1080 resolution along with up to 400 nits of brightness which is enough for the notebook to be used outside. There’s HDR too and a 100% DCI-P3 Color Gamut which will give us accurate colors and a more vivid display. This is perfect for watching movies in the notebook and of course, checking your photos

Light and portable

The ASUS Zenbook 13 OLED is also light and portable as expected. It only weighs 1.14kg and is also 13.9mm thin which makes the notebook really portable to bring anywhere and it would fit in most bags as this one has a small body.

Got all the ports that you need

The notebook might be thin and sleek but it has the ports that you need. First, there’s the 2x Thunderbolt 4 USB-C in where you can plug in your eGPU or your other devices that support Thunderbolt 4 speeds, and then there’s the HDMI too, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, and also a microSD card reader.  Basically, you don’t need a dongle most of the time as we got here both USB Type-A and also an HDMI for your external display.

Powerful 11th Generation Processor inside

The ASUS Zenbook 13 OLED UX325 comes with an 11th Generation Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor inside along with 8GB of RAM. The notebook comes with an Intel Iris Xe Graphics inside which is enough to run some light games and of course, applications including heavy excel ones. The 11th generation Intel processor along with its graphics also proved that it’s a leap in performance compared to the previous generation based on our benchmarks.

Long battery life

Thanks to the 11th Generation Intel processor inside this notebook,  we have really good battery life on this notebook as we can get here 13 hours of battery life on the ASUS Zenbook 13 OLED. This means that you can use the notebook for a whole day without the charger and in case you need more juice, this one comes with a USB-C port for charging so you can use other chargers to charge this notebook.

Bonus: compatible with Windows 11

ASUS has announced before that their devices will be compatible with Windows 11 and yes, we are now running Windows 11 Dev Beta on the ASUS Zenbook 13 OLED UX325 without problems installing it.

vivo X60 Review: Premium and powerful

0

vivo smartphones are known for their amazing selfie cameras but their latest smartphone in the X series really surprises me as the vivo X60 not only performed really well on the camera department but it has also performed really well on other aspects such as performance. Do you want to know more about the smartphone? Check out our review of the smartphone below.

vivo X60 Review: Design and construction

vivo’s smartphones these years were really pleasing to the eye and the X60 does really pack a beautiful and ergonomic design that everyone will love. The design of the smartphone is exceptional as this one also features a frosted glass black which was really premium and has flagship feels. Definitely one of the best-designed vivo smartphones out there.

The curves at the back are ergonomic and the smartphone does come with a thin and sleek profile despite having 5G inside. As for the camera, this one does come with a protruding camera module but man, it wasn’t thick compared to other smartphones in the market and then there’s the ZEISS logo too on the camera which makes the vivo X60 looks clean.

As for the ports, the vivo X60 doesn’t have a 3.5mm headphone jack but it does come with a dongle out of the box and as for the USB-C port, it’s located below and the smartphone does support 33W Fast Charging

vivo X60 Review: Display

The vivo X60 uses a 6.56-inch AMOLED Full HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and the display of the smartphone is just excellent. I love the colors and the details of the X60’s display. The contrast was great and everything was smooth on the display.

Gaming on the display was awesome too as the smartphone does have a fast refresh rate and the touch response of the smartphone was really well. As for movies, this smartphone comes with HDR10+ and if you’re watching something that supports that tech, it really adds beauty and excitement to the display of the smartphone.

vivo X60 Review: Battery life

The vivo X60 comes with a 4300mAh battery and the smartphone does feature a good battery life for a flagship smartphone. Thanks to the large battery and the efficiency of the Snapdragon 870 inside, we got a PC Mark Work 2.0 battery life of 15 hours and 41 minutes

vivo X60 Review: Software and performance

The vivo X60 comes with the latest FunTouchOS 11 and it’s cleaner than ever. It’s based on Android 11 and everything on the software was smooth and there might be some included applications on the smartphone but most of them are pretty useful.

As for the performance, the vivo X60 didn’t fail to impress me as the Snapdragon 870 chipset from Qualcomm inside it was one of the best chipsets that I’ve ever tried as this one features powerful performance and also good thermals. It doesn’t have the X1 Prime core like the Snapdragon 888 but it handles games and heavy apps pretty well at cooler temperatures.

Check out the benchmarks of the phone below:

vivo X60 Review: Camera

The camera of the vivo X60 is even better than the V series and also the previous X-series generation and with the vivo X60, we’re getting here a 48MP main camera along with 13MP ultra wide lens and also a 13MP telephoto lens. The smartphone also comes with the ZEISS branding which is a known brand when it comes to optics.

As for the quality of the shots that we took using the smartphone, we were pretty happy with how good the smartphone is when it comes to night mode and of course, the OIS works really well on this one. Check out some of the shots that we took using the smartphone:

vivo X60 Review: Verdict

The vivo X60 is an excellent smartphone. It’s a combination of beauty and brains as the vivo X60 features a beautiful and premium design that is really ergonomic and easy for the eyes. Not only that because the vivo X60’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 was really efficient and powerful as we can get here a powerful performance with good temperatures even when playing games.

The camera of the smartphone was great too along with the ZEISS branding on its optics. Basically, the vivo X60 is an excellent smartphone, and for its price? this one is pretty worth it. The vivo X60 is definitely one of our favorite smartphones this year.

Steam Deck is Valve’s answer to the Nintendo Switch

0

Valve, the developer of the very popular Steam app, has just announced their own handheld console that will be powered by the latest AMD APU with Zen 2 CPU inside along with the AMD RDNA 2 graphics inside.

Steam Deck will run on SteamOS which is their own operating system and you can run the device in sleep mode or you can pick up where you left just like the Nintendo Switch. It might be running on Steam OS but it will use the Proton as a compatibility layer so you can run Windows-based games on the Linux-based OS of the Steam Deck.

Just like the Nintendo Switch, it will also have a dock where it will come with USB-C ports along with HDMI, and Ethernet. This means that you can plug this one into a TV or a monitor and of course, you can also plug in your keyboard and mouse.

For the specifications, it comes with the AMD APU with Quad-Core Zen 2 CPU along with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and it comes in 64GBB, 256GB, and 512GB NMVMe SSD Storage and you can expand it using the microSD card slot.

As for the controller, we got here everything that we need ranging from the D-Pad, ABXY buttons, thumbstick, and shoulder buttons. Surprisingly, the shoulder buttons go from L1 up to L5 and R1 to R5 and there are two trackpads on the front that helps us in FPS games.

For the battery, it comes with a 40-watt hour battery and they’re promising a maximum of 7-8 hours of battery life on handheld mode. There’s the 7-inch touchscreen display too which is just at 1280×800 which will save you more power for the device and of course, it won’t be sharper too.

Some of the games that are able to run on the Steam Deck are Death Stranding, Control, Portal 2, Doom Eternal, Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, Hades, and more. And yes, if you have the game on Steam, you can access it on the Steam deck.

The Steam deck will start at $399 for the 64GB variant and then there’s the 256GB variant for $529 and the 512GB variant for $649. Unfortunately, you can’t pre-order the device in the Philippines
