0

Campaign kicks off with the premiere of brand-new micro-film, Memories Empower, limited-edition giftbox and “7-Day Memory Challenge” to invite Kingston users to relive their most precious memories

Accelerating the vision of preserving memories with its memory and storage products, Kingston Technology, a world leader of memory products and technology solutions, today announced its “Kingston Is With You” campaign. With the new brand positioning message, “Kingston Is With You,” Kingston aims to bring alive the invincible impact of memories in our lives and emphasizes that memories not only exist in the past, but can also be the driving force that motivates one to move forward in life.

A series of “Kingston Is With You” themed online and offline activities begin today, kicking off with the premiere of the micro-film, Memories Empower, which unveils a self-recovery journey through memories. In addition, Kingston specially designed a limited-edition gift box that connects memories with the five senses. The gift box comes with “7-Day Memory Challenge” cards, assigning 7 mini-tasks to recipients, helping them relive their most precious moments and provide a chance to win heartwarming gifts. Retail channels will also run promotional activities for customers to preserve their meaningful moments and experience the strength in memory with Kingston’s products.

Kevin Wu, Sales/Marketing and Business Development Vice President of APAC region, Kingston, said, “Kingston has always been a leader in enabling people to preserve their memories through our most reliable and high-performing memory and storage solutions products for business, creative and daily settings. We staunchly believe in the power of memories and its unlimited impact. During these times, we want to bring inspiration and strength to people with a promise that ‘Kingston Is With You.’ We strive to stand alongside all our customers, to celebrate cherished moments and be there with them during tough times. We would also like to express our deepest admiration and respect, and pay homage to those who show courage, resilience and strength during these testing times.”

Brand New Micro-film Brings Memories From the Past to Future

Kingston believes that video is one of the best ways to tell a story. The previously released A Memory to Remember Trilogy micro-film series centered around the significance of past memories and has touched the hearts of millions. This year, to show how “Kingston Is With You,” Kingston has brought back celebrated advertising director Lo Ging-zim to direct its latest micro-film. Mr. Lo also directed Kingston’s three previous micro-films.

While the A Memory to Remember Trilogy micro-film series focused on the memorable past, Memories Empower expands time and space to the present and future. The story depicts a young girl’s encounters after an abrupt change in life and exploring the theme that memories not only connect people to their past, but it also provides the courage to continue moving forward. Kingston invites viewers to embark on this journey of self-recovery through this micro-film.

Experience the Power of Memories with Kingston’s Limited-edition Giftbox

Extending its credo of Memories Empower further, Kingston has specially designed a limited-edition memory gift box that stimulates the five senses: sight, touch, taste, hearing and smell. Cards for each day of the 7 memory-related challenges, along with a Kingston x CSD face mask are included in the gift box, encouraging people to revisit small but treasured moments and rediscover the happiness of little things in life.

From May 14-18, Kingston will recruit its users to participate in the 7-Day Memory Challenge. Participants selected will be announced on Kingston’s Facebook Fan Page on May 20. Those who share their challenges online will have a chance to win an iPhone 12 and other exciting gifts. Please visit Kingston’s Facebook for more information.

Kingston’s exciting Summer Sale Promotion will start from May 13 to Jun 24. Customer will receive the Kingston x CSD limited-edition masks (3pcs) with any purchase of SSD 480G and above or HyperX RGB memory.

From cherishing memorable moments of the past to continuing the journey forward, Kingston Is With You.

realme 8 Pro Review

0

The realme 8 Pro is finally here and the smartphone is the direct successor of the realme 7 Pro and unlike the previous smartphones, the realme 8 Pro now features a new design and of course, they’ve made some improvements on the smartphone especially with its camera that packs a 108MP quad-camera setup.

realme 8 Pro Review: Design and hardware

The design and the hardware of the smartphone is one of its biggest change. Gone are the solid glass back of the smartphone and instead, we now have a rough and sand-like surface at the back of the smartphone and make no mistake because this premium feel of the smartphone is unique and it still does feel premium.

Realme’s slogan “DARE TO LEAP” is also highlighted and bold on this one at the back of the smartphone. Some might find the glossy motto annoying but personally, it’s just fine with me. As for the weight, the smartphone is really light and thin at 176g and 8.1mm Super Slim. Definitely one of the thinnest smartphones in the market.

The one that we got is Infinity Black and the colors that are available on this one are subtle and yet they look really good. But what I really like about it is that realme has managed to fit in a 4500mAh battery at this weight and size and the smartphone? It’s really ergonomic. And then there’s the quad-camera module that looks really good on the smartphone.

The power button and also the volume rocker is located on the right and they are easily reachable by hand even on one hand usage and as for the ports, there’s the USB-C port on the smartphone which supports 50W charging which is down from 65W but they’ve changed to a higher ampere instead of the higher voltage which gives the smartphone a more optimal battery but don’t worry because 50W is still really fast compared to other chargers out there in the market right now.

Realme 8 Pro Review: Display

For the display, we got here the right size at 6.4-inch and then there’s the Super AMOLED Display with Full HD+ resolution. We still got here a 60Hz refresh rate and a decent 90.8% screen to body ratio and of course, there’s the punch hole selfie camera at the upper left part of the smartphone. But the touch sampling rate is at 180Hz

The Super AMOLED display that we got in here is vivid, colorful and it’s actually pretty bright at up to 1000 nits. It also houses the in-display fingerprint scanner of the smartphone which is fast enough. Using the smartphone outside won’t be a problem as the realme 8 Pro’s display is really visible when using outdoors.

Realme 8 Pro Review: Battery life

Inside the realme 8 Pro is a 4500mAh battery and for its thickness and weight, I’m pretty happy that realme managed to fit that into the smartphone. The battery of the smartphone can go up to 17 hours and 3 minutes on PC Mark Battery test and that’s actually pretty long.

As for my usage, I was able to use the smartphone for a long single work day of usage with still some juices left. After that, I can charge the smartphone pretty fast with its 50W charger.

Realme 8 Pro Review: Software and performance

The realme 8 Pro runs on the latest realme UI 2.0 that is based on Android 11. The icons and the colors are easy to the eyes so it’s really pleasing to the eye and there isn’t that much bloatware that are included on the smartphone. And of course, the smartphone’s UI is fast, swift, and responsive. I just hope that the next version would have a higher refresh rate so we can appreciate the beauty and responsiveness of the realme UI 2.0

Inside the smartphone is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G Octa-Core chipset which is the same processor that was used by its predecessor. There’s 8GB of RAM too which is just enough for most smartphones these days. Does it perform in apps and games? Definitely. You can run most apps and games on the smartphone without problems and if you’re not a gamer, you wouldn’t have a problem running anything on the smartphone as most basic applications are running just fine.

As for the games, I was able to play different games on the smartphone including League Of Legends: Wild Rift and even Genshin Impact but of course, you have to lower the settings of the game in order for the game to be playable.

When it comes to benchmarks, the realme 8 Pro performed just fine as we were able to get these scores which are already expected for its specs:

Realme 8 Pro Review: Camera

First, let’s discuss what we can expect from the camera of the smartphone. We got here a quad-camera setup on the smartphone with a main 108MP camera. Along with that is the 8MP Ultra wide-angle lens, 2MP macro lens, and 2MP B&W lens. For the selfies, we got here a 16MP in-display selfie camera.

Well, the 108MP performed really well and it has exceeded my expectations. Most of the shots that I took were sharp and the colors are fine and with the 108MP shot, I could get more details on the smartphone but it takes a while before it can capture the shot so be sure to use it only on non-moving objects.

The smartphone has also introduced some new features including the starry time-lapse video and also the tilt-shift time-lapse video. We already loved the starry night mode feature of the previous realme smartphone as it can produce brighter and better night shots and with the starry time-lapse, we can take time-lapse videos.  Check out some of the low light shots that we took using the smartphone:

Here’s a sample video of the tilt-shift time-lapse and also the Starry time-lapse video:

Realme 8 Pro Review: Verdict

The realme 8 Pro is a leap in terms of the camera and also the design of the smartphone. We might be using the same processor here and also a 60Hz refresh rate on the display but the smartphone features a unique design that we rarely see on smartphones and also a camera that is pretty good for a midrange one.

The realme 8 Pro is now available in the Philippines for Php16,990.

To keep the phone running, realme geared it with a whopping 5,000mAh battery that supports 30W dart charging technology, as well.

Moving on, the realme 8 Pro comes with a Snapdragon 720G processor, providing users with an ultimate gaming experience.

For its photography department, the device sports a jaw-dropping 108MP main camera, accompanied by the same three additional sensors found on the regular variant. It has 16MP selfie snapper, too.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Review

The Redmi Note series is probably one of the most popular smartphone series here in the country as they provide a midrange price on a smartphone and yet, it still features the powerful hardware including the Snapdragon processor inside it along with the premium build of the smartphone. Want to know more about the smartphone? Check it out in our review below.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Review: Design and hardware

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro comes with a premium design. There’s the glass at the back of the smartphone similar to most premium and flagship smartphones but this one comes with a solid glossy back which means that fingerprints and also dusts are noticeable on the smartphone.

The size of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro is big since we got here a large 6.67-inch Full HD+ display. The footprint of the device is large so for smaller hands, they might find the Redmi Note 10 Pro too big for their hands but the curved back of the smartphone does help in the ergonomics and the grip for the smartphone but I highly suggest that you use the included case for the smartphone to protect it.

There’s a fingerprint scanner on the smartphone too located at the power button of the smartphone and on the top of that is the volume rocker. Below the smartphone is where you can find the USB-C port that supports 33W fast charging and along with that is the speaker grill while the headphone jack of the smartphone is placed at the top of the smartphone which basically lets you connect your charger and your speaker or headphones without blocking each other.

Another added feature on the smartphone is the IR blaster at the top of the Redmi Note 10 Pro in which you can use for Mi Remote. It’s a nice feature but I bet not all of you would use that one. As for the speaker of the Redmi Note 10 Pro, it’s actually pretty great and I was surprised with the quality that we’re getting in here.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Review: Display

For the display, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro fared pretty well as we got here a large 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz panel. It’s very rare to see midrange smartphones pack a 120Hz panel like on this one and not only that, we also got here an AMOLED panel which is why the display of the smartphone is smooth when navigating.

Unfortunately, this isn’t an adaptive display so you have to manually choose from 60Hz to 120Hz and vice versa if you want to save more battery for your smartphone. As for the quality, well, it was vivid and colorful as expected thanks to the AMOLED panel of the smartphone and it’s very usable outside so I didn’t have any problems with the display of the smartphone.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Review: Battery Life

For the battery of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro, there’s a 5020mAh battery inside which is good enough for its size, and along with that is a 33W fast charging. In my usage, the smartphone was able to get a PCMark battery test of 13 hours 15 minutes which is pretty great.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Review: Software and performance

The smartphone is running on MIUI 12 based on Android 11 and as expected, the software of the smartphone is light and there are only a few apps that come with it which is why the smartphone loads fast. The icons and the colors that are used are also easy to the eyes and of course, the UI is very user-friendly to everyone.

As for the performance, the Redmi Note 10 Pro comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G processor, and the one that we got comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage and in our usage, we were pretty happy with the performance of the smartphone. Running the game on different apps won’t be a problem and even games will be just fine on the smartphone. Check out the benchmarks that we got on the Redmi Note 10 Pro.

When it comes to gaming, the smartphone was able to run demanding 3D games like Genshin Impact but of course, toning down the settings will give you the playable and enjoyable framerates. Running games like Call of Duty: Mobile and Mobile Legends will be a walk in the park for the smartphone so if you’re planning on playing games on the smartphone, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro will do a great job for its price.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Review: Camera

The camera of the smartphone is one of the reasons why the Redmi Note 10 Pro is a ‘Pro’ smartphone. It comes with a 108MP main camera along with 8MP ultra-wide camera, 5MP telephoto camera, and also a 2MP depth sensor. From just the lens, I already like what we’re getting on the smartphone like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro already.

In our tests, we were pretty happy with the results that we got on the smartphone. The quality of the images that were produced on the smartphone is good, produce good bokeh, and they’re sharp at bright conditions. As for the selfies, it’s not the best that we’ve seen in the market but it produces the details that we need on a camera on the smartphone. Check out the shots that we took using the smartphone:

Thankfully, the shots that we got on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro were great. It doesn’t get to reach the flagship level photos but they’re good enough for a midrange one.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro Review: Verdict

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro is a great smartphone, especially for its price range. We’re getting here a large AMOLED Display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a large battery, a camera that performs really well, and it has a premium design. The only thing that is missing here is 5G which isn’t really a requirement on a midrange smartphone today. But hey, it’s still really affordable.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro is now available in the Philippines and it starts at Php12,590

Is your old Galaxy smartphone no longer useful for you? Think again.

With Samsung’s latest solution, you can now turn your old Galaxy phones into a smart home device—thanks to the brand’s newly expanded Galaxy Upcycling program.

Samsung Electronics recently announced Galaxy Upcycling at Home, the latest addition to its Galaxy Upcycling program. Through this, the company will be able to convert their customers’ old Galaxy smartphones into a variety of IoT devices through a simple software update.

This allows Samsung users to repurpose their smartphones once they have a new one. With Galaxy Upcycling at Home, users can easily turn their old Galaxy phones into smart home devices, such as a childcare monitor, a pet care solution, and other tools that will elevate their daily lifestyle.

Power up your home with the SmartThings app and your old Galaxy smartphones

The Galaxy Upcycling at Home program can enhance your old device’s sound and light-control features by repurposing its built-in sensors. This will then enable you to transform your old device through SmartThings Lab, an in-app feature of the SmartThings app.

Here are the amazing things it can do for you at home:

  • Equipped with an upgraded AI solution, it can intelligently detect sounds, record them and send them directly to your smartphone.
  • Devices can also be used as a light sensor, allowing it to automatically turn on the lights or the TV if the room gets darker.

Meanwhile, Samsung explained that to continuously detect sound and light, devices need to be actively operating. With this, they geared the program with battery optimization solutions to minimize battery usage.

Samsung has rolled out the beta service for Galaxy Upcycling at Home in the US,
