Huawei MateStation S Launches in the Philippines

2

Huawei Philippines has launched their first desktop in the Philippines and it’s the Huawei MateStation S. This is a full desktop which means that it’s running on Windows 10 and it’s perfect for those people who are looking for a PC that they can use for school or for work.

The Huawei MateStation S comes with AMD Ryzen 5 4600G processor inside along with 8GB 3200MHZ RAM, and a 256GB M.2 PCIe SSD inside. The RAM and the storage are upgradeable along with the GPU however, there’s a 300W PSU inside and the MateStation S is quite small so I doubt that this would be able to handle bigger GPU or the demanding ones.

Samsung Galaxy A52 and A72 Hands-On Philippines

0

Samsung has just launched their newest mid-range smartphones in the Philippines and honestly, I did love the specifications that we are getting in here as we finally got a Snapdragon 720G on the smartphones and then there’s the up to 120Hz display on the smartphones but would you love it? Well, we’re hoping that you can answer that after you read our hands-on and first impressions of the smartphone below.

Matte Haze Finish

The Samsung Galaxy A52 and the Galaxy A72 follows the suit of the Galaxy S21 and the Galaxy Z Fold2 by introducing a matte finish at the back and for the Samsung Galaxy A-series, they’re not using glass and instead, they’re using plastic which is why the smartphone doesn’t feel as premium as the Galaxy S Series or the Note series.

However, the smartphones does feature a minimal camera housing which is why the camera of the smartphones are less annoying. Unlike the Galaxy S21 series, the camera module of this one isn’t connected to the sides of the smartphone.

Another cool addition to the smartphone is the IP67 water resistance which we havent’ seen before in the A-series smartphones and thankfully, we still got here a headphone jack on both A52 and A72 smartphones.

Still a vivid display

Samsung still doesn’t fail to impress us with its Super AMOLED display and just like before, the colors that we’re getting in here are bright and also vivid. There’s no curve display in here but there’s a high refresh rate on this one as we got here a 90Hz refresh rate on the Galaxy A52 and A72 and then there’s the 120Hz on the A52 5G. Unfortunately, we were only able to test out the A52 and the A72 but surely, I did like the 90Hz refresh rate on this one as we haven’t seen a higher than 60hz refresh rate on their A-series smartphones.

In our usage of the smartphone, we would’ve liked the display even more if all of them packs a 120hz refresh rate and unfortunately, this isn’t the same Dynamic AMOLED 2x that we’re seeing on the flagship series smartphones so you’ll definitely notice the difference between the smartphones.

A better camera!

The Samsung Galaxy A52 and A52 5G features a quad-camera setup with a 64MP main camera + 8MP ultra wide + 5MP macro and 5 MP depth while the A72 loses the depth sensor and instead use a telephoto lens for 30x zoom.

Well, the photos that we got were quiet sharp. it’s better than I expected actually but I believe the colors are a little bit saturated but of course, we could still get better photos once the unit is out in the market. Check out the photos that I took using the smartphones.

Galaxy A52:

Galaxy A72:

Verdict

Overall, I appreciate that the smartphone has added more features including IP67 nand a more competing hardware inside including a Snapdragon 720G processor on the Galaxy A52 and A72 and a Snapdragon 750 5G on the A52 5G. However, the change to matte haze finish doesn’t feel premium to me and honestly, I would go for the Galaxy A71’s glossy plastic back instead of this one.

The Samsung Galaxy A52 is starts at Php18,990 while the Samsung Galaxy A72 and A52 5G are priced at Php23,990. Beginning March 18 until April 4, any Galaxy A52 5G purchased on Samsung.com will come with a Free Buds+ worth Php 5,990. Those who purchase at the Samsung Authorized Online Stores from March 18 to April 4 will get a free Itfit Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker worth Php 2,090

Samsung Galaxy A52, A52 5G, & A72 Unveiled!

0

Samsung has finally unveiled their latest mid-range smartphones in the A-series and these are the Samsung Galaxy A52, A52 5G, and the A72. These smartphones is an upgrade form the previous generation and they now come with a more powerful hardware and of course, more features including 5G on the Galaxy A52 variant.

New design

Compared to the previous generation, both the Galaxy A52 and the Galaxy A72 now features a plastic matte design at the back and then there’s the minimal camera housing too which means that there’s a less protruding camera in here which is why it does look cleaner and doesn’t wobble too much on a flat surface. There are different colors for the smartphones too including Awesome Violet, Awesome Blue, Awesome Black, and Awesome White.

Awesome cameras

Samsung has also improved the cameras by using a 64MP main camera on this one with along with 12MP ultra wide lens, 5MP macro, and surprisingly, an 8MP telephoto lens with zoom up to 30x on the Galaxy A72 and 5MP depth instead for the Galaxy A52. Aside from that, the smartphones are also capable of shooting 4K and there 30 scenes that are being recognized and optimized with AI.

Speaking of video, the smartphone also comes with OIS camera which enables a more stable shooting, a tetra binning technology for lowlight shots and the night mode. Just like the flagship smartphones series of Samsung, this one now comes with Pro Video mode so you can take a more flexible videos on the smartphone for content creation.

Smoother Display

Both the Samsung Galaxy A52/A72 and the A52 5G are now rocking a faster and smoother display with the smartphones featuring a 90Hz and 120Hz display respectively. And since this one comes with Super AMOLED display, these displays have a sharper and better colors compared to the competition and yet, still maintain a high refresh rate.

Better Hardware

The Samsung Galaxy A52, A52 5G, and A72 are now rocking an IP67 certification which means that the smartphones are now water and dust resistant and you can submerge the smartphones by up to 1 meter of freshwater for 30 minutes.

As for the battery, the Samsung Galaxy A52 and A52 5G will come with 4500mAh battery while the Galaxy A72 will come with 5000mAh battery and for the memory, the smartphones will come with an up to 256GB storage which is a first in the A-series of Samsung.

In case you’re curious, there’s no 5G version of the Galaxy A72 but the Samsung Galaxy A52 is basically the Galaxy A52 except that we have a better processor, faster display, and a different chipset inside.

OPPO dominates PH smartphone market in Q4 2020

0

OPPO has bounced back from its Q3 2020 performance, as it emerged as the biggest smartphone vendor in the Philippines last Q4 2020.

Global market-research firm International Data Corporation (IDC) has released its latest report, revealing that OPPO sold the most smartphone units in the local market last quarter.

Previously sitting on the third spot with just 13% of unit sales in the country, OPPO has claimed 17.9% of the market share—followed by realme with 16.9%, vivo with 16.4%, Transsion with 15.0%, and Samsung with 8.4% market share.

For OPPO, this was made possible by their effort to bring great entry-level smartphones to the country. In fact, its budget devices have eaten more than 80% of its total sales.

This success can also be attributed to its technological developments, as the brand was able to introduce their 5G-ready devices in the country earlier than some of their rivals.

Two of the biggest telco players even teamed up with OPPO to distribute the Reno4 Z 5G.

“As the market evolves, OPPO continues to work hard to make our phones more accessible and innovative to cater to the needs of the evolving Filipino consumers. We’re delighted by this achievement and are committed to continue bringing only the best products to the Filipinos, all the more at this time when people are more digitally connected,” said OPPO Philippines Marketing Director Raymond Xia.

Overall, the Philippines’ smartphone market rose by 6% year on year.
