Seagate Fast SSD 500GB Review

0

It’s fast!

Solid-state drives or SSD have become more popular over the years due to the fast speeds of this storage which has a substantial upgrade of performance versus hard disk drives that come with spinning drives. SSDs are known to be expensive before but today, SSDs are getting common already and now, we now have an external SSD like the Seagate Fast 500GB which I use right now and boy, this thing is fast.

How fast? Well, Seagate promised that this one comes with a read/write transfer speeds of up to 540/500 MB/s. This means that this one can handle faster speeds compared to conventional external hard disks and it’s really a far cry when it comes to speeds.

First, let’s get down to the looks of this one. We have a very thin and sleek design on this one and it’s shock-resistant so you won’t be worried about what will happen to your external drive. Well, it’s not completely shock resistant as this one comes with SSD instead of the spinning disks.

This one features an aluminum square with rounded edges that is placed a black plastic body with rounded edges too. It looks sleek thanks to the minimalistic Seagate logo in the middle. And yes, this one looks pretty fine to me and it might not be the smallest but this one is pretty portable.

Thankfully, the Seagate Fast SSD 500GB is future proof as we got here a USB-C port which means that this one is future proof as more devices are switching to USB-C port especially on the Macbook and yes, it does support my iPad OS.

Aside from the Seagate Fast SSD 500GB, there are two included cables in the box. One is a USB-C to USB-C while the other one is USB-C to USB-A which means that you can use the external SSD wherever you like.

In our benchmarks, the Seagate Fast SSD 500GB easily decimated the game compared to the 1TB Seagate Backup Plus Slim. The synthetic benchmark showed that the Seagate Fast 500GB SSD managed to get almost 10x faster read and write speeds compared to the traditional hard disks.

This benchmark showed that the promised speeds by Seagate were met by the Seagate Fast SSD 500GB external SSD and it has decimated the 1TB Seagate Backup Plus Slim which is still using spinning disks.

Why do you need this?

Well, these days in where files such as videos can do 4K and even 8K, it’s essential to have an SSD like this so you can easily store your files on your portable SSD. In my usage, I save my videos on the Seagate Fast SSD 500GB and connect it to my Macbook and save storage on my Macbook as I save it on my Seagate Fast SSD 500GB.

Verdict

The Seagate Fast SSD is a content creator’s best friend. You can store files really fast and safe because this one is SSD and it has a smaller footprint. The design of this one is something that you should really take a look at as this one is beautiful, fast and really useful.

It might not be the best one in the market but it will do just fine especially if you’re a content creator or you always save your large files on external disks.

GrabBike spotted in the Grab app

0

Looks like Angkas and Joyride is about to get more competitive as Grab is considering the comeback of GrabBike, the company’s motorcycle taxi service. And it looks like Grab is really serious about this as the option for GrabBike has appeared in their app.

Well, it’s not really usable as this one shows the bike option on the main screen of the app and you can choose it from the suggested rides on the menu, however, you won’t be able to book any motorcycle taxi right now.

The app also shows “Grab-Bike TEST” which means that they’re still testing the service again and there are no currently available drivers in the road right now. Hopefully, we can get to see their GrabBike service back again soon and of course, I hope that Grab can get more competitors in the market soon.

Vivo, OPPO, and Xiaomi teams up to bring new wireless file transfer system

Do you found Bluetooth really a hassle when transferring files due to the slow transferring? While Apple’s Airdrop is seamless when transferring files to other iOS and MacOS devices? Well, Vivo, OPPO, and Xiaomi have decided to align and partner to bring a new wireless file transfer system that can benefit the consumers around the world.

The three companies have formed an initiative of “Peer to peer transmission alliance” in where a new system will enable the smartphones of these three companies to have a seamless cross-brand file transfer in just one click.

This means that the smartphones of these three companies will be able to send WiFi P2P technology for data transfer and it can deliver average transfer speeds of 20MB/s. With this feature, it will be easier for Vivo, OPPO, and Xiaomi smartphones to transfer files to each other.

Yep, at least 400,000

The Samsung Galaxy Fold is one of the most expensive smartphones in the market right now due to the foldable display and its unique features and many people expected that the smartphone would not sell that much because of the price and its niche market but boy, they were wrong as Samsung CEO DJ Koh has announced that the sales of the Samsung Galaxy Fold is between 400,000 to 500,000 during an interview session at CES 2020.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold is one of the most ambitious smartphones ever due to its form factor and it is changing the game thanks to its foldable display. The Samsung Galaxy Fold is only available at telcos in the country including Smart but the smartphone is priced at a whopping Php110,000.

iPhone 9 Renders Leaks Out, features a similar look to the iPhone 8

0

The iPhone 9 was skipped before when the iPhone X was announced and everyone was wondering why did Apple skip the iPhone 9, well, here’s the answer for you as the renders of the iPhone 9 has just leaked out and it seems that the smartphone is the successor of the iPhone SE.

The leaked renders came from OnLeaks and it seems that the smartphone will have the same design of the iPhone 8 before with some changes. The iPhone 9 will still feature a 4.7-inch display similar to the iPhone 8 and it will still have the top and bottom bezels along with the Touch ID sensor below the display of the smartphone.

The smartphone will pack a 138.5 x 67.4 x 7.8mm dimensions which is a little bit thicker than the iPhone 8 and it will run on A13 Bionic SoC similar to the iPhone 11 series and there’s the 3GB RAM inside.

The iPhone 9 also features the Apple logo in the middle similar to the iPhone 11 series and there’s a frosted glass back just like the iPhone 11 Pro series. There’s a single-lens camera though which is a little bit disappointing as we can’t get to see an ultra-wide shot on this smartphone.

The iPhone 9 is expected to be released this March along with the new iPad Pros and it is expected to start at $399 (Php20,243~) for the 64GB.
