Huawei Kirin 990 chipset arriving this September 6

Huawei will be announcing something ahead of IFA 2019 at Berlin and it’s the Kirin 990 chipset. A short 10-second video was teased by the company and we can expect a lot from this chipset including 5G which will be the trend on smartphones this year.

The Kirin 990 is expected to be manufactured under TSMC’s 7nm EUV process which will definitely increase the power efficiency and transistor density on the chipset.

The Kirin 990 is also expected to have a 4K video recording at 60fps which will be the first in the Kirin chipset series and of course, it will also pack the latest NPU architectured along with new CPU and GPU components.

The Kirin 990 chipset is expected to be use by their upcoming flagship smartphone — the Huawei Mate 30 and also the Huawei Mate X, their foldable smartphone.

Vivo S1 set to launch in the PH soon

Vivo S1 will be arriving in the Philippines soon and it’s set to be the newest mid-range smartphone in the market and also to be a stylish one thanks to its skyline Blue and Diamond black glossy finish designs on the smartphone. Aside from that, the Vivo S1 also features an AI triple-lens camera and the latest Helio P65 processor.

Vivo is helping shape the future of smartphone industry

In the smartphone industry today, there are already a lot of brands that are saturating the market but Vivo has already built a reputation to be a leading global technology company. How? Well, they have invested a lot in software and hardware R&D so that they can bring the latest and cutting-edge devices to the consumers that brings new technologies.

The company has a lot of first in the world technology. Back in 2012, they’ve introduced the Vivo X1 which was the world’s thinnest smartphone at 6.65mm. In 2014, the Vivo X5 Max comes in a thinner 4.75mm body which  claims the world’s thinnest phone back then.

In 2017, Vivo has introduced the Vivo V7+ that comes with the first-ever 24-megapixel front camera with Face Beauty. While in 2018, they’ve introduced the Vivo X20 Plus UD, which is the first handset to sport a fingerprint scanner underneath the 6.43-inch Full HD+ display of the smartphone.

Aside from that, Vivo has also been consistent with their APEX line as the smartphone introduces a lot of new technologies for the consumer market. With the APEX, the smartphone has been introduced to sport a FullView display with no notch and bezel with a pop-up camera.

The Chinese company has also introduced the Vivo Time of Flight camera which is a 3D sensing technology that is now being used by different smartphone brands. This can be used for augmented reality, paradigm shift in imaging.

So what’s next for Vivo? Well, the company has introduced the APEX 2019 which is the company’s first-ever 5G smartphone that sports a Super Unibody design that eliminates the bezel, notch, and the physical buttons of the smartphone.

With the dawn of 5G, I’m really happy and excited to see what’s next for Vivo smartphones.

LG celebrates Philippine history with their all-new LG OLED TVs

Manila, Philippines has a very rich history because of our diverse culture and rich stories about our history and to make it more special, the Intramuros Administration, the government agency tasked for the management and development of Intramuros as a National Heritage, celebrates its 40th Anniversary and in line with that, LG Philippines has handed over LG TVs for their museum.

LG PH Managing Director Inkwun Heo has led the festivities and they’ve given away 6 units of LG TVs to the museum. We all know that the friendship between South Korea and the Philippines is tight and has been going through for seven decades so this is not a surprising move from the company.

This move is also helpful for the OLED TV technology of LG to introduce the beauty of its panels. The LG OLED TV comes with Deep Learning technology and also a new a9 Gen2 and a7 Gen2 processors for better recognition and optimize display quality and sound for any content on the TV.

Not only that, but the newest line of LG TVs also features AI that lets you talk to your TV with the built-in microphone on the remote. The OLED Panel technology of the TV also boasts a sound quality that can deliver virtual 5.1 surround sound.

Realme Buds 2 Launched in India

Aside from the Realme 5 and the Realme 5 Pro, the Realme Buds 2 was also launched in India and it’s the successor of the affordable but really good earbuds, the Realme Buds. The successor comes with a better design and also a better sound quality as it comes with a better driver, multi-layer composite diagram, and Japan Daikoku Voice Coil.

The Realme Buds 2 will come with an 11.2mm bass boost driver which promises a great sound experience. Aside from that, tangled cables issues are solved as this one comes with a reinforced braided jacket with grooved TPU cables that won’t tangle easily and it also comes with magnets to easily store your earphones and also an adjustable cable strap to keep your earphones tidy.

Just like before, the Realme Buds 2 will still come with an inline remote that features three tactile buttons and a mic in where you can use it for calls, voice assistant, and even gaming. The earphones will still come with 3.5mm audio jack so you can still use it with your smartphones.

The Realme Buds 2 is priced at INR 599 (Php437) but do expect that this one will be more expensive if this product will arrive in the Philippines.

Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro unveiled in India, to pack a quad-camera lens

Realme has just unveiled their newest smartphone today at India and it’s the Realme 5 series. The smartphone packs a feature that not all smartphone have — a quad-camera lens. And yes, the smartphone series comes in two variants — Realme 5 and the Realme 5 Pro. 

Realme 5

The Realme 5 is the more affordable variant in where the smartphone comes with 6.5-inch HD+ display and a weird screen ratio of 20:9. The smartphone comes with Snapdragon 665 processor and it comes in 3/32GB, 4/64GB, & 4/128GB variants. 

The quad-camera setup is composed of 12MP main shooter with f/1.8 aperture, 8MP ultrawide angle lens, 2MP macro lens with 4cm focus distance, and a depth sensor and on the front, we got a 13MP selfie camera. The smartphone also comes with a pretty large 5000mAh battery but unfortunately, there’s no fast charging on this one.

Realme 5 Pro

The Realme 5 Pro comes with a smaller 6.3-inch display with Full HD+ resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone comes in 4GB/64GB, 6/64GB, and 8GB/128GB variants so you have mo flexibility when it comes to memory and it runs on Snapdragon 712 chipset which is a minor update from the previous generation, a Snapdragon 710 processor.

The Realme 5 Pro’s quad-camera setup is the same with the Realme 5 except for the main camera. We got here a 48MP main camera with Sony IMX586 sensor on this one and there’s a 16MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture.

The smartphone also comes with VOOC 3.0 20W fast charging and aplso a USB-C port. 

The Realme 5 starts at INR 9,999 (Php7,287) while the Realme 5 Pro starts at INR13,999 (Php10,202).

But of course, the prices indicated are not yet subjective to local taxes and tariffs so we can expect a higher price one the smartphones arrive in the Philippines.

OPPO Reno2 series arriving this August 28

OPPO has surprised us with their announcement of the OPPO Reno 2 series which will be unveiled at India this August 28. The original OPPO Reno series is one of the best OPPO smartphones that we’ve ever reviewed as the OPPO Reno 10x Zoom is capable of 10x zooming and also a powerful hardware inside but how about the OPPO Reno2 smartphone?

There were not much details that has been unveiled by the company but the OPPO Reno2 will sport a quad-camera setup and also a shark-fin like pop-up camera which probably means that the smartphone will still pack a full screen display. The smartphone is also expected to shoot up to 20x zoom which is way better compared to the previous generation.

 

The OPPO Reno2 event will happen at August 28 at New Delhi, India.

Vivo Y15 gets a price drop!
