Apple has officially announced that Tim Cook is stepping down as the CEO of Apple with John Ternus set to become the company’s next Chief Executive Officer starting September 1, 2026.
John Ternus to Lead Apple’s Next Chapter
John Ternus, currently Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering, has been with the company for over two decades. He has played a key role in the development of major Apple products, including iPhone, Mac, iPad, and Apple Watch. Especially the recent MacBook Neo and the MacBook Pro with ports.
Ternus is expected to continue Apple’s focus on innovation, particularly in hardware, where he has led advancements in performance and materials as seen in the recent Apple hardware products.
Tim Cook, who has served as Apple’s CEO since 2011, will take on the role of executive chairman. In this position, he will continue to support the company, particularly in global policy and strategic initiatives.
