Pioneer SE-M531 Headphone Review

0

Pioneer SE-M531

Pioneer is a household name when it comes to consumer electronics and audio products and recently, I got to review their one of their awesome pro headphones, the Pioneer SE-M531 headphones. And yes, this beast is really freakin awesome for its price.

Construction

The first thing that you’ll notice in the Pioneer SE-M531 is that the headphone is freakin big. But of course, a big headphones means that it should have an awesome quality and performance too, right?

Pioneer SE-M531 plastic

The headphone isn’t made up of metal. The frame is made of plastic but it is quite sturdy and it doesn’t wiggle when I hold it however I would still prefer if the frame was made up of metal to make it look better and sturdier.

The earcups was made up of glossy plastic and there’s a little hole there too, which helps the Pioneer earphone give more life and bass to the audio. Despite having a large earcups, it isn’t heavy as it looks like because of its plastic construction.

The earpads is made up of cotton and it is the most comfortable earpads that I’ve tried. It’s very soft but you can barely hear the noise around.

Pioneer SE-M531 earpads

The tangle-free wire is quiet long and it’s already enough if you’re a pro user but unfortunately, the cable isn’t detachable. There’s a 6.3mm standard stereo plug adapter too if you need to plug in the earphones to your other instruments.

Audio Quality

The overall performance of the earphones was pretty amazing. We love bass and Pioneer SE-M531 doesn’t fail to impress. I’ve tried different songs like Empire state of Mind by Jay-Z and every beat makes my heart pound thanks to the awesome bass of the Pioneer SE-M531.

Pioneer SE-M531 with speaker

The lows were great on this headphone however, I feel that the mid and highs lacks more details because the lows were really prevalent on this headphones. When watching TV shows and movies like Transformer: Age of Extinction, the explosions were easy to the ears while the voices of the actors sounds clear and detailed.

Verdict

Pioneer SE-M531 hanging

By just looking by its size, you’ll know that this headphone isn’t really for travel. It is meant to stay at home or at your studio. The performance isn’t on par with some noise-cancelling headphones but for its price, the Pioneer SE-M531 performs great.

QWERTY is back with the Blackberry Classic for Php20,990

0

Blackberry’s QWERTY keyboard phones still remains a memory for us. But since the entry of full touchscreen phones, they slowly refocused to target business oriented people that not only answers a lot of email, but also needs to get organized.

That’s why Blackberry launches the new Blackberry Classic to the Philippines. Users who are still used to using a qwerty keyboard will be glad of this new smartphone. Specifically, Blackberry said that the Classic is the upgrade version of the Bold 9900 smartphone.

The primary reason you’ll choose this phone is for its fast and responsive physical keyboard. Blackberry Philippines explained that their keyboard is legendary and continuously progress to the new classic. They claim that typing in the keyboard will be 4x more accurate, though they did not mention their comparison.

The display is a square 3.5″ LED display, unfortunately its not IPS or AMOLED which we do expect in today’s smartphones. But nevertheless, the display is still good that it can be used under sunlight and colors are accurate and not washed out.
Blackberry also highlighted the strength of the smatphone, which is more for organizing. They show how simple and fast to reply to emails, confirm to calendar invites or even access important programs / people in shortcuts.
Connectivity wise are standard Wi-Fi 802.11 g/n/ac, bluetooth 4.0, NFC connection and 3G Data (Yup its not LTE) . A bit disappointing, but perhaps Blackberry focus more on battery life as of now.
If you would only look on the hardware specifications, you’ll be surprised that the Blackberry Classic is priced at Php20,990. But considering Blackberry’s famous business oriented tools, security and software, its a bit more understandable why the phone is priced like that. But still, it only makes the target market for the classic more niche that it already is.
The Blackberry Classic will be available starting February 5th on all Memo Xpress stores nationwide.

H2O Salamander: Amphibious tricycle made by Pinoys

0

H2O Salamander is probably the best Filipino invention that I’ve seen. H2O Salamander is an amphibious tricycle that can travel on land and water which is great since our country is prone to floods and calamities. Since we’re an archipelago, the H2O Salamander would also be a great transportation from an island to other island.

Salamander

This tricycle can carry up to 6 passengers including the driver on land and 4 passengers including the driver on water. The H2O Salamander is also made up of fiberglass with a steel frame. You don’t have to worry about travelling in water because it has a built-in marine grade propeller. Another awesome thing to find inside the H2O Salamander is the Solar USB charging capability with up to 6 USB ports for your mobile devices.

Aditionals2

The H2O Salamander comes in 5KW electric engine and a 250cc gasoline engine. If you want to know more about this awesome tricycle, head over to their website at http://h2o-ph.com

Pioneer XW-BTSA1-K Wireless speaker Review

0

Pioneer XW-BTSA1-K front

Most speakers released today now packs Bluetooth. Why? Because today, we mostly use our mobile devices to play music and we hate it when it is still connected via wires because it is a nuisance when we need to control our music player but we’re away from the speaker. Today, we’ll review Pioneer XW-BTSA1-K Bluetooth speaker and no; this is no ordinary Bluetooth speaker because this speaker comes with NFC and a remote control.

The Pioneer XW-BTSA1-K Bluetooth speaker isn’t the best looking speaker that we’ve seen but the speaker is small. It doesn’t look complicated and the design fits well in any room. The speaker’s body is made up of plastic but it doesn’t feel cheap and actually, I liked it.

The rubber buttons are placed at the top and it’s small but easy to press. This speaker also supports NFC and when you want to pair your smartphone or tablet with NFC, all you have to do is to tap your phone at the top of the speaker. Pairing is very easy even if you don’t have NFC on your smartphones. Actually, I’ve been using this speaker to connect to my laptop via Bluetooth and it was very easy to pair and connect.
Pioneer XW-BTSA1-K back

This speaker needs to be plugged in everytime and there’s an included remote control inside the box too that’s why it is best to use it at your living room or at your bedroom. Actually, I barely used the buttons on the speaker and most of the time, I used the remote control included in the speaker however, when pressing next or previous song, it has a little bit of delay but it isn’t much of a deal breaker. I mean, c’mon, there are only few wireless speakers with remote control at this price range.

Pioneer XW-BTSA1-K remote

One thing that I love in this speaker is the support for the aptX audio codec which means that you could have awesome audio quality despite using wireless connection but of course, if you don’t want to use wireless connection, you could use AUX input and yes, there’s a USB port too if you want to charge your music player or your smartphone on the speaker.

There’s a 2 x 8W speakers on the Pioneer XW-BTSA1-K speaker and the performance wasn’t great but it wasn’t unimpressive too. When playing electronic songs like ‘Fragments of time’ from Daft Punk, it tends to be deeper than I expected and hi-hats lacks more push but the bass wasn’t prevalent but the clarity and the details are still good.

John Mayer’s ‘War of my life’, the vocals sounds good and it doesn’t sound harsh. However, some songs sounds a little bit buried but most of the time, most of it sounds good.

Pioneer XW-BTSA1-K top with remote

The quality of the speaker may not be the best but this one came in with a remote control and it doesn’t take too much space. The price is quiet good too for its specifications and its features.
